24 October 2007 : We welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement of assistance with their utilities bills for pensioners, carers and people on the Disability Support Pension, but should extend to around 1 million sole parents, unemployed Australians and people with disabilities on NewStart Allowance.

1 November 2007 : We welcome Labor’s announcement of assistance with utility bills to pensioners, carers and people on the Disability Support Pension, including the provision of quarterly payments and the extension of the payment to telephone line rental costs. The assistance should extend to around 1 million sole parents, unemployed Australians and people with disabilities on NewStart Allowance.

In addition, we’re looking for all parties to commit to a national plan with targets to assist the more than 1 in 10 Australians living in poverty which would include investment in dental care, affordable housing, education and training, and lifting the living conditions for Indigenous people.
